Cu Chi tunnels played a vital part in the U.S.-Vietnam War in that they allowed the Viet Cong to control a large rural area only 30 to 40 km from former Saigon.
At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border. The network, parts of which were several levels deep, included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction, giving the visitor a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the war must have been like.
The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested, there’s even the opportunity to try an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range. (At your own cost).

Our 10-day, 9-night journey through Vietnam with Asian Link Travel was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and we felt well taken care of throughout the trip.
Each destination had its own charm—Hanoi welcomed us with its rich history and vibrant street life, while Ha Long Bay left us speechless with its breathtaking limestone karsts and serene waters. The overnight cruise was a highlight, offering stunning sunrise views and delicious Vietnamese cuisine.
Exploring Hoi An was like stepping into a different world with its lantern-lit streets, ancient architecture, and warm hospitality. The food tour there was one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had! In Hue, we were fascinated by the Imperial City and learned so much about Vietnam’s history from our knowledgeable guide.
The last part of our journey in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta gave us a great mix of modern energy and peaceful countryside experiences. Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels was a humbling yet incredible experience, providing deep insight into Vietnam’s past.
The guides were fantastic—friendly, professional, and always ready to help. Transportation was smooth, and the accommodations were comfortable, offering a great balance between luxury and local charm.
Thank you, hope to see you travel with us!
